Vector Marketing will open 450 branch offices this summer to accommodate college students seeking paid work between semesters or terms. Vector Marketing is the sales and marketing arm of Cutco Cutlery, manufacturers of the world's finest knives. Vector Marketing is the largest recruiter of undergraduate students in the United States. Each year, Vector contracts with tens of thousands of college student representatives to sell Cutco's premium cutlery products.

Vector Marketing runs 250 year-round district offices in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. Each summer, Vector opens hundreds of additional temporary branch offices to accommodate its seasonal surge in contractors. Many contractors are self-starting and motivated students attracted to the flexible hours and high earning potential offered by selling Cutco Cutlery.

"The summer branch manager position is a phenomenal experience for our most-accomplished student sales representatives," said Bruce Goodman, president of Vector Marketing Corporation. "It's the ultimate opportunity for a young entrepreneur. I'm aware of no better training ground to develop real-world leadership skills that will prove invaluable over the course of one's career journey."

Vector has summer branches in all 50 states. The branches are located as far north as Anchorage, Alaska, as far south as Brownsville, Texas, as far west as Oahu, Hawaii, and as far east as Bangor, Maine.

Vector branch managers are typically 19- to 22-year-old college students who have trained during the school year for the opportunity to run a branch during the summer break. For example, Jake Bergman was 19 years old and had just finished two years of playing wide receiver at Colorado State University Pueblo when he managed the South Colorado Springs branch in 2015. He said the opportunity to manage a team of 30 salespeople taught him how to run and operate his own business.

"I have been a leader in my athletic career my entire life, but Vector actually taught me a how to lead a group of people," Bergman said. "Helping young people was absolutely, hands-down, no-questions-asked the best part of the experience."

Bergman has since transferred to the University of Colorado at Denver, where he is pursuing a degree in business management. This summer he is a division office manager for Vector's South Denver Office. Bergman plans to stay with the company after he graduates, drawing on the skills he first learned as a Vector branch manager during the summer.

"I never have to worry or stress about money, and I love my job," said Bergman. "I have made lifelong friends that I would never have without Vector. I get to work with my best friends every day."
