She Went 30 for 31. But the No Sale May Have Been Her Most Memorable Appointment

Fast-Start-FeatureSales rep Olivia Bohrer of Parker, Colorado

No one likes a no sale. But sometimes the most meaningful Cutco appointments are the ones where you don’t sell a thing.

Just ask 18-year-old Olivia Bohrer of Parker, Colorado. When she started with Vector Marketing, she arranged 31 demos in just 10 days.

On 30 appointments, she made a sale, selling a total of more than $10,000 of Cutco products. A $10K Fast Start* is an impressive feat in such a short time, for sure.

But the appointment where she struck out was still a personal home run.

*The first 10 days of a rep’s Cutco career is called their “Fast Start”. Many reps strive to sell $10,000 or $10K in those first 10 days, but not everyone hits their goal.

In Logan’s Memory

Andy and Karla Bauman didn’t buy any knives when they met with Olivia. But they were so impressed with her spirit and determination that they gave her several hundred dollars in scholarship money.

It was in honor of their son, Logan, a 14-year-old who was tragically hit and killed by a car in 2008. After his death, his family established the Logan Bauman Memorial Fund to help those who exhibit a passion and dedication to life and education.

“Probably the most impressive quality that Olivia displayed was her effort and, more importantly, her ambition to take charge of her future. Her drive to go out and earn money for her college education, that ‘entrepreneurial drive,’ was truly admirable,” said Andy Bauman. He said his family is “grateful that we play witness to many young people’s ambitions, dreams and, ultimately, their happiness. That’s what Logan brought to ours.”

Olivia, who had seen a great deal of success immediately with Vector, said she was incredibly flattered by the kindness and generosity of the Baumans. She loved that they wanted to honor Logan by helping her.

“I was in complete shock,” she said. “I almost cried because I was so grateful and overwhelmed at the same time.” Meme-02

Building Her Future

The scholarship money will help Olivia at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. Olivia is a freshman there majoring in dance and has danced competitively since she was 7.

She wants to choreograph professionally or pursue dance therapy after she graduates. She says that she loves how Vector’s flexibility allows her to work around a demanding school and rehearsal schedule.

From Skeptic to Super Fan

“My short time with Vector has been incredible. Honestly, I was skeptical at first, as I had little to no experience with sales or entrepreneurship. But I learned everything I needed to know and then some!” Olivia says. “I know it sounds corny, but I really have learned so many useful skills for my future when it comes to being confident.”

No sales are going to happen. It’s a fact that you won’t sell on every single appointment. And, hey, that’s okay.
